This guide is acomprehensive summary of the design experience of long span cable-stayedbridges, engineering practice of Sutong Bridge and research results in thelatest 30 years in China. This guide focuses on the summary and presentation ofthe design experience of Sutong Bridge, so as to make clear specialrequirements and design methods of kilometer-scale cable-stayed bridges. Basedon the life cycle theory and the performance-based design method, this guideemphasizes basic causes, analysis methods and design countermeasures ofspecific requirements. Supposed to provide significant information for thedesign of kilometer-scale cable-stayed bridges, this book is available forreference for engineering and technical personnel working on bridge design, construction and scientific research.
ZhangXigang, senior engineer and professor, is chairman and general manager ofHighway Consultants Co., Ltd. He hosted and participated in a number of design, management and scientific research in the field of survey and design of largehighway bridges. His team bridges and highways, such as Sutong Bridge which isthe longest span cable-stayed bridge in the world, Hangzhou Bay Bridge which isthe world’s longest cross-sea bridge, Xihoumen Bridge in Zhoushan of ZhejiangProvince which is the second longest span suspension bridge in the world, andcompleted dozens of projects commissioned by World Bank and Asian DevelopmentBank.
