  • About the author

In view of the theory ofmechanics and underground engineering design, this book expounds, in details, the analytic solutions, numerical analysis and numerical limit analysis for thestability analysis of surrounding rock of underground engineering, includinglinear-elastic analysis, elasto-plastic analysis, visco-elasto-plasticanalysis, weak surface analysis of rock-in-place stress and surrounding-rockstress, finite-element method for linear-elastic analysis, elasto-plasticanalysis, structural surface analysis and dynamic analysis, finite-elementreverse analysis method of surrounding rock, introduction of analyticalsoftware for underground engineering, finite-element limit analysis method, destructive mechanism of tunnel surrounding rock, theory of surrounding wallpressure, and tunnel design methodology.

This book is suitable forpersonnel of geotechnical survey, design and construction as well as foruniversity teachers and students of relevant subject.
ZhengYinren, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and expert ingeotechnical engineering and underground engineering, currently serves theDepartment of Military Civil Engineering, Logistic Engineering University ofPLA, as professor and Ph.D. supervisor. For long, he has been engaged in thetheoretical researches and engineering applications of stability analysis ofunderground engineering and geotechnical engineering, geotechnical plasticmechanics and constitutive relations. Creatively, he has pushed forward therock mechanics and geotechnical mechanics of underground engineering, established the general plastic mechanics theory system, and developed theengineering applications of numerical limit method. He has published more than220 articles, and won the second and third prizes of National Science andTechnology Progress Award, one for each; five second prizes of military andministerial science and technology progress awards, one award of the NationalScience Conference, and one first prize of Excellent Science and TechnologyBook from the Ministry of Water Resources.
