  • About the author
In order to solve theproblems of structural system, performance and design, based on the SutongBridge with a main span of 1,088m and extending to those with main spans of1,308m, 1,500m and 1,800m, this book studies on the design theory and methods, structure system and key parameters, wind characteristics and result responses, seismic design, function and design methods of ship impact, structuralperformance under car load, elastic and plastic stability, extreme actioncharacteristics and design methods of kilometer-scale cable-stayed bridges. This book solves systematically the problems of theory, methods, parameters, and standards in the design, which provides reference for the construction ofsimilar bridges. This book is suitable for relevant research personnel workingon bridge design and construction as well as related graduate students andadvanced undergraduates.

Zhang Xigang, idem.

ChenAirong, professor of bridge department at Tongji University, mainly do researchon the wind resistance of bridges. His main achievement includes“DesignGuideline of Wind Resistance for Highway Bridges” , which has become animportant basis of wind resistance design of long span bridges in China, proposing optimal parameter formula of passive control of wind-inducedvibration. For the first time, he conducted the wind tunnel test of aeroelastic model of Humen suspension bridge in China's largest boundary layer windtunnel (TJ-3 wind tunnel) at Tongji University. He completed research work ofwind resistance performance for several long span cable-stayed and  suspension bridges and put forward somestiffness methods of multi-span cablestayed bridges.
