It has been 33 years since Bridge and Structural Engineering Branch ofChina Highway and Transportation Society was established in 1979, during which ithas run six sessions and changed more than 1,000 members. Over the last 33years, the branch has held 28 sessions of national bridge conference and 30special academic conferences, edited and published 28 issues of conferencepaper collections and organized over 3,640 academic papers for exchange andpublication, involving over 8,500 per-times. The activities of the societyspread over all China, including more than 20 provinces. The technologicalexchange activities and achievements undertaken under the organization of thebranch have promoted the national bridge technology, benefited major bridgeprojects and vast bridge science and technology workers all over China.
